Morrison Report

Our Dear Brethren:

Lots of visitors and members attending regularly at all services marked most of our services in July. We had one couple who had no religious affiliation and found Suwanee on the internet. This was one of my long-term goals for this small group of God’s people who are in the Lakes Region. Many local brethren and even many in the community of Lyon County know where we are located. However, it was my experience very early in this work to realize they are not easy to locate (not being on 68/80 (the main road through Kuttawa). Brethren visiting and new to the the area are now finding us regularly through this means (another long-term goal). All glory and praise to God for His Mercy and Kindnesses that abound in our efforts. When you consider the question of our specific purpose as a congregation in these circumstances small in number; aging membership; not much opportunity for numerical growth, etc.); this ability to give travelers (only 5 miles from I24) and vacationers (many were traveling 40-60 miles to other congregations in the area) brings evangelistic efforts that were untapped previously. Again, to God be the Glory!!

We are meeting and conducting all Worship Services and Bible Studies as regularly. Our Goals and Plans for the balance of 2021 are back on track.  Our meeting with Lee Forsythe begins this coming Sunday (August 8th - 11th - Sunday through Wednesday). Brethren are praying, preparing, and busy inviting folks in our community to be with us.

Monthly Evangelism Training on the second Sunday night of each month is back on track with lessons (class format) designed for encouraging our growth (spiritually and numerically). This training also involves a return to memorizing Bible verses. We are in the process of memorizing the LET US passages from the book of Hebrews (our Wednesday night auditorium class). We also take time to update on members on Men’s meetings (in lieu of elders – another long-term goal), Suwanee 2021 goals status, and visitation groups.

Due to other lessons needed in July, I did not present a lesson on “Caring for Widows and Orphans in Their Distress.” I plan to do so in August. I consider the opportunities in this area to be a great blessing to our members. The sense of the lesson will be to remind them how God’s view of our responsibilities as a congregation and as individuals to care for widows and orphans. Our small number requires all those who are able to not grow weary in this care!!

In July lessons included the continuation of the new series on “A CLOSER WALK WITH GOD… Blessings & Responsibilities (#2 in series); Our Public Assemblies (#3 in series); Growing in Knowledge of Christ (#4 in series); and How to Overcome Sin (#5 in series)-all these and many more can be viewed online at God’s Truth Without Walls – Facebook and YouTube.
The Wednesday night study continues in Hebrews now chapter 12:1. Sunday Morning Studies are in First Timothy. We are now in I Timothy 4.
